Gabriele Schmid is one of two academic heads of the University of Applied Arts and Sciences Ottersberg where she is a professor for Aesthetic Education since 2007. Currently she is responsible for the fields of research, studies and teaching with a special focus on arts based and artistic research. Gabriele is also responsible for the international affairs of the University. Previously she held a professorship at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and before that she was assistant professor at the University of the Arts Berlin. There she had studied Fine Art and Art Education and finished her dissertation about Illusionary Rooms.

Gabriele Schmid is elected as a board member for the period from 2017 to 2019.
