Florian Schneider
Florian Schneider is a filmmaker, writer, and curator. Over three decades, he has been engaged in a wide range of projects to rethink impact and value of documentary practices across disciplines in the arts. From 2007 to 2012, he worked as Advising Researcher at Jan van Eyck Academie Maastricht. Since 2013 he is Professor for Art Theory and Documentary Practices at NTNU, Norwegian University of Science and Technology. From 2014 to 2021 he served as the Head of NTNU’s Academy of Fine Art where he developed together with colleagues of the Music Department, a PhD program in artistic research.
Since 2019 Florian Schneider is Chair of the COST action “European Forum for Advanced Practices”. He coordinates activities in artistic research and production at NTNU which is an official partner of the EU commission in the “New European Bauhaus”. In 2022, he launched the European platform Actionable Futures and initiated a broad Norwegian Alliance towards the new Knowledge and Innovation Community EIT Culture & Creativity.
Florian Schneider has been elected to serve as president of SAR for the period 2022 – 2026.
